- To provide means of quality education for young people.
- To provide support, social and recreational facilities for the community at large.

BIST is governed by its Board of Trustees whose members represent the diverse ethnic minorities of Bristol. The Trust Board has created a number of task groups to which other individual volunteers contribute. This includes the Funding Group, the Construction and Planning Group, and the Publicity and Media Group.
BIST started its first project on 12 September 2005, which is called Andalusia Academy Bristol.
